REGISTRATION CLOSED - Road Bike Ride: Lummi Island Ferry Hoppin': July 27

Date: Saturday, July 27, 209

Time: 8:30am - 4:30pm

Meeting Location: Cafe Velo

Lummi Island awaits and the views of Mt Baker over Bellingham Bay don't get much better than this. After about 15 miles (or approximately 1.5 hours) of pedaling along the shoreline from Bellingham, we'll arrive at the ferry terminal. A very small ferry and very short ferry ride takes us to Lummi Island (it leaves every 20-30 min!). Upon arrival on the island, choose between a relaxing picnic and beach time, lunch at the cafe, or an extra few (7) miles on a quaint island loop road with optional stops at art galleries and shops along the way.

Worried about biking with a new group, going to a new location, what you're going to bring for lunch.... anything at all? Shifting Gears groups are easy-going, supportive, fun and in it for the sake of adventuring together as Womxn. We've got your back and we're here to help you problem solve or calm any pre-trip jitters. On the day of the trip, you'll set the pace and we'll take lots of breaks along the way. Beginners - this ride is for you!

ROUTE INFO: 16 miles on mostly flat, coastal road north out of Bellingham to Lummi Island Ferry. After a <10 min boat ride, we will reach the shores of Lummi Island. We'll choose our on-island adventure together (you'll choose to opt in or out for an addition 7 mile loop depending on your energy level,) and then return to Bellingham on the same way we came.

LUNCH: Please pack your own lunch, or bring money for food on Lummi Island. After ample time for refueling, rehydrating, and stretching, we'll hit the road back to Bellingham.

VEHICLE SUPPORT OPTION: A Shifting Gears on-call vehicle pick-up is available throughout the duration of this trip for anyone who reach their limit prior to the end of the route. This option lets us all feel a little more comfortable pushing our limits further, knowing another option is available at any point.

COST: $12 [Includes your ferry ticket]
